Are my files/orders secure?
The documents that we receive from clients are secure starting from the very first moment of contact, during the whole translation execution process and also after this process is finished. Our server is protected by cutting edge security software that ensures constant confidentiality of the information we receive. All the materials and documents submitted for translation are stored in the ultra-modern data backup centre, where a whole array of security measures and encryptions protects the information handled by ILS.
What is a translation memory (TM)?
A translation memory is a translation database dedicated to a specific client, where all the translations have been completed, verified and checked. Thanks to using such memory we are able to ensure coherence of translations, as well as offer more attractive rates and shorted lead times, thanks to detecting repetitions or sentences matching a specific memory. This saves us the necessity of adjusting new translations to texts that were translated in the past, which, in turn, helps us save both time and money.
I have a text similar to one I had translated in the past. Can this be used in any manner?
Thanks to taking advantage of the cutting edge computer assisted translation software ( SDL/Trados ) we are able to offer efficient solutions that enable lowering the cost of the services provided. If the previous translation was done by our agency, during the next one we will use the translation memory dedicated to a specific client. In case there occur any repetitions or matches with previous translation, the price and time required to complete the service will be reduced accordingly. However, if the previous translation was done by another service provider, we can build a new translation memory for a given client, provided that we have both that translation and the source document that was translated. The price and time needed for the translation are going to be reduced accordingly, as if the previous translation was done by us as well.
What is a glossary or a term base?
Thanks to the glossaries (also known as term bases) prepared for a specific client on the basis of auxiliary materials provided to us we are able to make sure that the chosen terms, names, expressions, etc. are going to be translated according to the approved nomenclature applied in a given company. Thanks to that all the documents will be based on the same expressions, helping reduce the risk of any misunderstandings.
What quality assurance do you provide?
We are operating on the basis of very strict requirements of two internationally recognized standards, that is, ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 17100. Both these standards force us to work according to pre-established procedures that describe the whole document translation process – from the moment of first contact with a client to the after-sales service. Every step of this process is monitored and supervised, which enables detecting and eliminating any deviations. Every client receives services that is fully compliant with all standards and requirements.
What is verification and proofreading?
Next to translation itself, our offer includes also verification and proofreading services. According to provisions of the ISO 17100 or ISO 9001 standard, proofreading is carried out by an independent translator who has mastered a given language and has the required specialist knowledge that enables checking whether a given translation was done correctly and in compliance with the criteria established. Proofreading is carried out by a native speaker of the target language, that is, a person for whom that language is the mother tongue. The aim of proofreading is to ensure that every linguistic aspects of the translation is correct and compliant with standards. Both services are recommended in case of marketing texts, publications, localizations, etc.
Who are your translators?
Translators and interpreters collaborating with ILS are professionals with specialist knowledge in a given field. We work only with experienced translators who are able to confirm their skills by providing acknowledgement letters and detailed information on projects that they completed. We never entrust a translation to any unverified person. We ask prospective translators to do a couple of test translations and we also contact their previous clients in order to verify the acknowledgements. Our translators are bound by law to keep all the documents and materials they receive from us confidential.
How is the price of translation calculated?
When we present price estimates to the clients we rely on the total amount of characters with spaces or words in the source document and then we multiply this amount by the rate applicable to a given language pair. If you have a dedicated translation memory, we use it during analysis of the files to be translated in order to check whether the text includes any repetitions or matches and, therefore, whether there it is possible to reduce costs or the lead time. Thanks to that every client knows the exact price of translation of a given document.
How long does it take to translate a document?
Establishing the time necessary for translating a given file is a complex task depending on many factors. What needs to be taken into account is the text difficulty, total number of characters of words in the source file, presumptive necessity to carry out verification and proofreading and also the file format. All these factors are taken into account by the project managers when preparing estimates for our clients.
